Day 1 – Arrival in Tunxi, Hongcun

Attractions: Hongcun Village, Tunxi Old Street

Our English speaking guide will meet you outside the baggage claim area at Huangshan Airport and transfer you to your hotel in the city area. Although the airport is named Huangshan after the famous Yellow Mountain the nearby city is called Tunxi.

That afternoon you will visit Hongcun Village. It is a typical water countryside village lying quietly beside the green mountain and clear water. It looks like a village from a Chinese painting!

In the evening you can stroll along Tunxi Old Street, a pedestrian street in the centre of Tunxi where you will find traditional Chinese buildings and shops selling local products and souvenirs.

Day 2 – Huangshan

Attractions: Huangshan Mountain, Cloud-Dispersing Pavilion, Xihai Grand Canyon, Sunset

This morning you will be driven to the foot of Mt. Huangshan where you will take the Yungu cable car up the mountain enjoying the magnificent scenery along the way. (If you want to get a very early start to avoid some of the long lines at the cable car then you can skip the breakfast buffet and proceed directly to the mountain. Buy some snacks to eat during the drive.) From the top cable car station you will walk to your hotel past some of the thirty-six small peaks of Huangshan Mountain including Beginning-to-Believe Peak which boasts strange pines and absurd stones.

In the afternoon you can walk to the Cloud-Dispersing Pavilion so called because the clouds will disperse when reaching this spot. It is an excellent vantage point from which to admire the cloud sea, strange peaks and deep valleys of Huangshan. Nearby is the Xihai Grand Canyon which is famous for its beautiful and deep natural scenery and is an extra bonus if you are feeling fit.

Tonight you will stay at a hotel on the mountain. If the weather is fine then you will have the opportunity to view a magnificent sunset.

Day 3 – Huangshan and Tunxi Old Street

Attractions: Huangshan Mountain Sunrise, Bright Summit, Welcoming Guest Pine, Tunxi Old Street

Be prepared to rise early to watch the sunrise if weather permits. After breakfast you will begin your descent of the mountain after crossing Bright Summit where it is possible to admire the views in several different directions. The track then meanders through stunning scenery past Turtle Peak and Jade Screen Peak to the Welcoming Guest Pine. You will conclude your visit to Huangshan by going down the Yuping cable car to Mercy Light Temple.

Options – For those who wish for a more rigorous program it is possible to also visit Fairy Bridge and/or climb Lotus Peak.

In the late afternoon you will return to Tunxi and have another opportunity to visit Tunxi Old Street. You can buy some gifts for your friends and family and have a relaxing cup of coffee after your strenuous mountain climbing.

Day 4 – Departure from Huangshan

You will have free time until our tour guide will pick you up from your hotel to take you to the airport. You might like to sleep in a little after your hike on the mountain.
