Day 1 – Arrival in Guiyang

Our guide will meet you outside the baggage claim area at Guiyang Airport and transfer you to your hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure.

Day 2 – Guiyang to Kaili

Attractions: Kaili Folk Museum, Qingman Zhouxi Miao Village, Shiqiao Miao Village, Fish in Sour and Spicy Soup

In the morning you will drive to Kaili which is the home of the Miao and Ge ethnic groups and you will visit the Kaili Folk Museum. It provides a comprehensive introduction to the history and culture of the various minority groups in Guizhou. The Minority Customs Hall and the Dragon Boat Hall are the most outstanding.

The Miao villagers wear pleated skirts in three different lengths – long, mid-length and short. Their clothing is colourfully decorated with silver ornaments and hand embroidered designs. You will begin with a visit to the Qingman Zhouxi Miao Village.

Enjoy the wonderful mountain scenery as you drive to Shiqiao Miao Village. Here the villagers make paper from tree bark in a traditional way which has a history of over one thousand years. Different colours are obtained by using various plants.

You will stay overnight in Kaili and enjoy a special dinner of Fish in Sour and Spicy Soup, a local delicacy. It is similar to hotpot with many kinds of delicious sauces.

Day 3 – Kaili to Zhenyuan

Attractions: Wuyang River Cruise, Zhenyuan Ancient Town

Today is a long but scenic drive to the ancient town of Zhenyuan. Located on the Wuyang River Zhenyuan boasts a history all the way back to 202BC! Although the town is small it is packed full of things to see including caves, palaces, pavilions and temples.

After arriving at Zhenyuan you will take a trip on the Wuyang River to admire the amazing natural scenery. Then you can stroll through the ancient streets with photo opportunities around every corner. The town is especially picturesque in the evening when the lights are reflected in the river.

Day 4 – Zhenyuan to Kaili

Attractions: Black Dragon Cave, Shidong Silver Ornaments Town

Today’s tour begins at the Black Dragon Cave which is actually an ancient temple complex. Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism are combined here. On the way back to Kaili you will stop at Shidong, a town famous for making silver ornaments. You will be able to see the craftsmen in action.

Day 5 – Kaili to Guiyang

Attractions: Jidao Long Skirt Miao Village, Jiaxiu Pavilion

Again you will enjoy the magnificent mountain scenery as we drive 25 kilometres from Kaili to the Jidao Long Skirt Miao Village. You will receive a traditional welcome and have the opportunity to see some local singing and dancing. The old granaries and stone paved streets add to the exotic atmosphere.

After returning to Guiyang you will visit Jiaxiu Pavilion or First Scholar’s Tower which was first built in 1598. You can get a good view from the top and it is especially impressive at night when it is lit up.

Day 6 – Depart Guiyang

Today you will be transferred to Guiyang Airport to fly to your next destination.
